Bringing A microscopic World To Life On Screen
Commissioned by Fluid Pictures, we created bespoke graphics for Netflix’s Emmy Award-winning documentary Our Great National Parks, featuring Barack Obama. The sequence explores the complex phytoplankton cycles that underpin ocean ecosystems. We created the phytoplankton models and developed every aspect of the shot, bringing a microscopic world to life on screen.
The Making of a Series
Our role was to bring the hidden landscapes of Monterey Bay to life. Using detailed bathymetric data, we reconstructed the vast underwater canyons off the west coast of North America. We also visualized the journey of phytoplankton from the bay, creating graphics that highlighted just how vital this microscopic life is to the health of our planet.
This project was a true privilege to work on and a chance to represent the beauty of our natural world while underscoring the importance of protecting it for generations to come.
